Tinted Lip Balm: Your best defense against winter

Written by Whitney Gardner

Tinted lip balm is one of the best ways to easily get that soft glossy look we all want even when our lips are in dire need of repair. It’s so simple to use. You just swipe it on when you don’t have the time or energy to apply a full lip look. Plus, it not only looks great, but it helps nourish and protect your lips as well.

SeneGence offers several lip balm options that I’ll go over below. If you’re looking for something easy to use, super nourishing, and makes you look fantastic, tinted lip balm is an excellent option!

What is tinted lip balm?

Tinted lip balm is a type of lip balm that not only hydrates and nourishes your lips, but also has a subtle tint that can give your lips a hint of color. Tinted lip balms typically come in a variety of colors and can range from a sheer wash of color to a more intense hue. These balms are great for those who want to add some color to their lips without having to use lipstick. Tinted lip balms are also often formulated with natural ingredients such as shea butter, coconut oil, and beeswax, so they provide long-lasting hydration and nourishment for your lips.

LipSense Moisturizing Tinted Lip Balms

SeneGence offers three different LipSense Moisturizing Tinted Lip Balms as part of the “permanent” product line:

  • Original (clear)
  • Barely Berry, and
  • Blush Pink

Additionally, at the time of this writing, there are also three “Limited Edition” tints as well:

  • Fuchsia Plum
  • Honey Coral (not pictured), and
  • Nude Beige

Lip Balm versus Chapstick

Lip balm is not chapstick. While lip balm is typically made with natural ingredients such as shea butter, cocoa butter, beeswax and essential oils, chapstick tends to include chemical ingredients like parabens and phenols.

Lip balm also tends to be thicker and longer-lasting than chapstick, which can make it more effective at treating dry, chapped lips. Additionally, lip balm often contains SPF protection, while chapstick does not.

Historically, chapstick was easier to apply, as it is usually packaged in a stick form.  But the pocket-sized tube of LipSense Moisturizing Lip Balm or any of the LipSense Tinted Lip Balms, has made it so convenient to carry that chapstick no longer has the advantage.

If you are looking for a product to heal your lips and give you a pop of color while it works, then tinted lip balm is probably the better choice.

Beauty without hassle

Tinted lip balm is an easy and convenient way to add a pop of color to your lips. Unlike traditional lipstick, it is easy to apply and doesn’t require any special brushes or techniques. All you need to do is swipe the balm onto your lips, and you can instantly enjoy a hint of color and hydration.

Tinted lip balm is also great for everyday wear, as it’s often formulated with nourishing ingredients like shea butter and cocoa butter to keep your lips soft and supple. Plus, it’s available in a wide range of colors, so you can find the perfect shade for any occasion.

Whether you’re looking for a subtle hint of color or something more dramatic, tinted lip balm is an easy and practical way to add a little something extra to your look.

Dry winter air damages your lips

Dry winter air can be harsh on your lips, causing them to become cracked, sore, or even bleed. It’s important to take extra care of your lips during the winter months to keep them healthy and prevent any discomfort.

One way to do this is to make sure you’re drinking plenty of water. Staying hydrated will help keep your lips moisturized and prevent them from drying out. You should also use a lip balm that contains natural ingredients like shea or cocoa butter to keep your lips hydrated and protected from the cold.

Finally, try to avoid licking your lips as this can strip them of natural moisture. By taking these simple steps, you can help keep your lips healthy and comfortable during the dry winter months.

Cocoa & Shea Butter soften and protect your lips

Shea butter is a natural, plant-based ingredient that is known for its hydrating and nourishing properties. In particular, it is often used in lip balms and other skincare products because of its ability to lock in moisture and protect the delicate skin of the lips.

Shea butter is made from the nut of the African Shea Tree, and it is high in nourishing fatty acids and antioxidants that can help to keep lips soft and supple. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help to soothe chapped lips, making it a great choice for those with dry or sensitive skin. For best results, use a lip balm or cream that contains Shea butter, and apply it liberally throughout the day to keep lips hydrated and protected.

Cocoa butter is a great ingredient to include in lip balm. Not only does it make the balm feel luxurious, but it also has many benefits for our skin. Cocoa butter is highly moisturizing, making it ideal for preventing and treating chapped lips. It also helps to protect the delicate skin on our lips from environmental damage. Cocoa butter is also rich in antioxidants and vitamins, which help to nourish and soothe the skin. Plus, it has a delicious chocolatey smell that makes lip balm irresistible.

Should you wear Tinted Lip Balm overnight?

One of the most common questions about tinted lip balm is “should you wear tinted lip balm at night?” The answer is absolutely yes!

Wearing lip balm overnight can be a great way to help repair and protect your lips. By wearing it while you sleep, you allow the balm to penetrate deep into your lips and provide them with long-lasting hydration. This helps to strengthen and repair the delicate skin of your lips, which can prevent them from becoming cracked and chapped. It can also help to soothe any irritation or inflammation, making your lips smoother and more comfortable.

The best lip balms, like LipSense Moisturizing Lip Balm, have a combination of natural ingredients, such as shea butter, cocoa butter, and coconut oil, which provide nourishment and moisture. It is best to choose a balm that is free from fragrances and chemicals, as these can irritate the skin. With regular use, wearing lip balm overnight can make a big difference in the health of your lips.

An even better overnight option…

While you certainly CAN wear Tinted Lip Balm overnight because it has the same healing ingredients as its non-tinted counterpart, there is an even better option.
